Here at Agria, we love all horses. They add so much to our lives and deliver us such joy on a daily basis. For all of us, there is usually one that holds a very special place in our hearts - the one in a million that just grabs us like no other and creates a bond that lasts a lifetime. We think it's time we celebrated those special souls and all that they do for us. From some of the most famous horses in the country to your own little hero who changed your life, we want to honour those horses and ponies who make the greatest impact. We want to know what makes them your horse of a lifetime.

The competition has been running in the UK for a number of years, with some very notable winners. The 2022 winner of Agria Horse of a Lifetime was none other than Carltonlima Emma, a little Fell Pony, who was Queen Elizabeth's favourite pony.

In 2023 it was the turn of Cashel Bay JJ, the superstar working hunter pony who won numerous prestigious championships with his young riders and is described as the “Roger Federer of ponies” by his owner, Polly Eddis.

We are putting the spotlight on horses and ponies who inspire, motivate, serve and delight regular riders every day all around Ireland. While some of the horses featured may be famous horses, loved and admired by many, we understand that a horse doesn't need to be on teams or winning medals to be a hero. How it works:

Your entry must include a photograph that we can share on our social media channels. Photos submitted must be owned by the entrant - this means photos you have taken yourself, not purchased from a professional photographer. OR, if the image was not taken by you, then you must have permission from the image owner/photographer for the image to be posted on Agria's social media and used in the Agria Horse of a Lifetime competition. If there are other people in the image with your Horse of a Lifetime, it’s vital to have their permission (or parent’s permission) for their image to be shared with us before you send us the photograph.

Every three months we will shortlist four Horse of a Lifetime entrants from those entered who will each win a rosette and Agria baseball cap.
We will share the shortlisted stories and pictures on our social media channels and invite people to vote for their winner from the four.

Shortlisted entrants are welcome to encourage friends to vote for their horse or pony. The voting period will be outlined in the social media post.
The seasonal Horse of a Lifetime winner will receive a rosette and an engraved name plaque with a portrait of the winning horse following the voting period.

Competition Terms and Conditions – Agria Irish Horse of a Lifetime 2024

These terms and conditions prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including advertising or promotional materials. Participants of the promotion agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

1. This competition is open to residents in the Republic of Ireland who are aged at least 18 years who meet the terms and conditions to qualify. Employees of Agria are not eligible to enter.

2. Entrants must submit their photo and story to the Agria Irish Horse of a Lifetime entry form.

3. Every three months four horses will be shortlisted. Voting for the winner from the four shortlisted entries will open after these dates, the closing dates for each voting period will be outlined in the accompanying social media post. Only one entry will be accepted per person per three-month period. The same person may re-enter the following period. Entrants that have reached the shortlist stage are not eligible to enter again.

4. Photos submitted to the competition must be owned by the entrant or have permission from the person who owns the copyright (this applies to all photos purchased from a professional photographer), in order to submit it. Any entrants found to be using an image without the rights or permission to do so, will be disqualified. Any photos submitted may be used by Agria for marketing purposes.

5. Four shortlisted horses will be selected by a panel of judges (a list of which is available on request). The shortlisted horses will be posted on Facebook and Instagram and the public will vote for the winner by commenting on the post with the name of the horse. Voting will end on the date specified on the social media post for that period. The winner will be the horse with the most votes overall from both Facebook and Instagram.

6. The prize for those shortlisted will be a rosette and Agria cap. The prize for the winner each month will be a personalised name plaque with a portrait of the winning horse. The winner will also receive a rosette and Agria cap. Prizes will be awarded during each period for the duration of the competition.

7. The winner will be provided with a voucher for a personalised plaque. Agria maintain full control of the product type and size.

8. The shortlisted entrants and subsequent winner will be contacted as soon as reasonably possible after being selected through the email address submitted on the entry form. They will be required to provide an address to send their prize to.

9. The shortlisted entrants and winner will receive their rosette and cap within two months of voting closing unless events occur outside of Agria’s control. Once they have received their voucher, the winner must contact us to redeem their prize.

10. Your personal data will not be shared with any other third parties and your marketing preferences will be unaffected by entering this competition.

11. Any photographs depicting any animals in unsuitable or unsafe environments, or considered by Agria to be inappropriate, will be removed and the entrant may be disqualified. Any comments considered by Agria to be inappropriate or offensive will be removed and the entrant will be disqualified.

12. Should Agria be unable to contact the winner or should the winner be unable to accept the prize, Agria reserves the right to award the prize to an alternative winner, drawn in accordance with these terms and conditions.

13. All elements of the prize are subject to availability, non-transferable and there are no cash alternatives. If product becomes unavailable it will be replaced by a product of similar or higher quality.

14. The winner may be required to participate in publicity.

15. Agria reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual that does not adhere to these terms and conditions.

16. Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prize impossible due to reasons beyond the control of Agria and accordingly Agria may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to Agria as a result thereof.

17. If for any reason any aspect of this cannot run as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond the control of Agria which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the competition, Agria may in its sole discretion modify or suspend the competition or invalidate any affected entries.

18. Agria and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this promotion or accepting or using the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (including personal injury, death and fraud) in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law.

19. Any question concerning the legal interpretation of the rules will be based on Irish law and the Courts of Ireland will have exclusive jurisdiction.
